Nepal Kyokushin-Seishin Kaikan Karate Association organized the "First National Men's and Women's Weight Category Full-Contact Karate Competition–2072" on 7th and 8th Falgun, 2072, under the chief guestship of former Minister of Youth and Sports and MP Purushottam Poudel.
The competition was inaugurated jointly by Kancho Seishin Iwashita, President of the World Kyokushin Kai Karate Organization and World Seishin Kaikan Karate Organization, Japan, and Mr. Poudel, who garlanded and lit a lamp before the portrait of Guru Mas. Oyama, founder of Kyokushin Karate. Kancho Iwashita, who traveled from Japan to encourage the athletes, was a special highlight of the event.
The program was presided over by Association President Shihan Ashok Kumar Shrestha, a 6th Dan Black Belt holder from WKKO-Japan who has led WKKO-Nepal since 2012 and also serves as an international referee. Secretary Rajkumar K.C. delivered the welcome address.
Athletes competed across seven weight categories each for men and women, from 25 kg to open weight, making a total of 14 categories.

At the closing ceremony, Nepal Olympic Committee Vice-President Jyoti Rana attended as chief guest, alongside Honorary Nepal Olympic Committee President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Kancho Seishin Iwashita, Association President Shihan Ashok Kumar Shrestha, Solukhumbu District Sports Development Committee President D.B. Rana, and Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee President Dhruba Neupane. The winning athletes were awarded shields, medals, and certificates.
This event marked the first-ever national full-contact karate competition in Nepal, bringing together 150 athletes from across the country under the guidance of an international guest and senior sports officials — an important milestone in the growth of Kyokushin karate in Nepal.
